In Mexico you can pay for Google Ads by card, bank transfer or deposit, and in cash at 7-Eleven and OXXO — cash carries a convenience fee and the minimum payment is 100 MXN. Google charges 16% IVA: with automatic payments it adds it to the amount, with prepay it deducts it from the payment (of 116 MXN, 100 goes to ads), and with a valid RFC it sends an electronic invoice within the first 5 days of the next month. If you need several markets, payment in dollars or in USDT, an agency account will work.
How to pay Google directly
| Method | Conditions per Google’s help center |
|---|---|
| Bank card | Automatic payments or prepay |
| Bank transfer and deposit | Through Google’s payment partner |
| Cash at 7-Eleven and OXXO | Convenience fee, minimum payment 100 MXN |
IVA 16%
Google charges 16% IVA in Mexico, and how depends on the payment setting:
| Payment setting | How IVA is charged |
|---|---|
| Monthly invoicing | 16% of costs is added to the invoice |
| Automatic payments | 16% is added to every transaction |
| Prepay | 16% is deducted from the payment: of 116 MXN, 100 MXN is credited to ads |
With a valid RFC, the electronic invoice arrives within the first 5 days of the next month. If tax details need correcting, Google asks you to contact support, and invoices already issued aren’t reissued.
With prepay this is easy to miss: your ad budget is actually 16% less than the amount you paid in.
Account currency
Currency is set permanently at creation. MXN is easier for local payment methods. If your budget is in dollars or you advertise in several Latin American countries, accounts in USD are easier — one per country, in one MCC structure.
When an agency account is more convenient
- You advertise in Mexico and other countries in the region and want one structure and one balance.
- You need to pay in dollars, by bank transfer against an invoice or in USDT.
- The company card declines Google charges on peak days.
- Finance needs a contract and an invoice.
In an agency account Google bills the agency, and you top up your balance with the agency. The tax consequences of paying abroad depend on Mexican law — check them with your accountant.
