Since April 1, 2022, Google has charged 7.5% VAT to all Google Ads advertisers with a billing address in Nigeria and issues VAT invoices. Card payments depend on the bank’s limits on international transactions, and a decline is the bank’s decision, not Google’s. If your card doesn’t go through or you need to pay in dollars or USDT, an agency account is more convenient.
Taxes on Google invoices
Since April 1, 2022, Google has charged 7.5% VAT to all Google Ads advertisers with a billing address in Nigeria and issues VAT invoices. Budget for the tax: with spend of $10,000 a month, it’s $750 on top.
How to pay Google directly
Google accepts bank cards, and other methods depend on country, currency and payment settings. The payment options tool in Google’s help center shows the current list for your account.
The most common card decline reasons Google lists are insufficient funds, a single-transaction limit, blocked online and international transactions, and too many charges in a short period. They’re resolved by the bank, not Google. Details in “Bank declines Google Ads payments”.
Account currency
Currency is set permanently at creation. If you advertise in other countries or count your budget in dollars, accounts in USD are easier — one per market, in one MCC structure.
When an agency account is more convenient
- Your card declines Google charges or the bank’s limits don’t cover your budget.
- You need to pay by bank transfer against an invoice or in USDT.
- You advertise in several countries and want one balance and one structure.
In an agency account Google bills the agency, and you top up your balance with the agency. The tax and currency consequences of paying abroad depend on Nigerian law — check them with your accountant.
How to start with Gads
- Submit a request: client type, budget, what you advertise, Telegram or WhatsApp.
- We confirm that the GEOs and currency you need are available before you pay.
- Review takes up to an hour after sign-up, then accounts are issued instantly.
- Top up by bank transfer or in USDT and split the balance across accounts in the dashboard.
The price is only a percentage of actual ad spend: 3% on the first $50,000 a month, 2% on the part up to $150,000 and 1% above. Details on the pricing page.
